Illustration from original review by John Coulthart, as if you couldn't recognize it on sight. Come on. Don't even front. |
I was delighted to stumble across a review of Mark Fisher's The Weird and The Eerie by Eugene Thacker, [Eugene Thacker – Weird, Eerie, and Monstrous: A Review of “The Weird and the Eerie” by Mark Fisher]. As is the case with nearly everything Thacker writes it is an illuminating piece that rewards careful contemplation. I myself adored Fisher's work, up to and including The Weird and The Eerie, and miss his presence deeply. As I wrote in my own review for [Lovecraft Ezine] The Weird and The Eerie provided the last piece of the puzzle I needed for me to fully understand what my compatriots across the ocean were doing in utilizing folk horror. For that alone I would have been indebted for years yet there is so much more locked between that volume's slim covers. I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my adoration.
Besides, any review accompanied by a [John Coulthart] illustration is bound to be aces.
